FORM 5 GRADUATION DAY 2018 - DEWAN ST PAUL, BEAUFORT

St Paul's Secondary School (SMK ST PAUL) held it's 2nd Graduation Day for Form 5 (2018) at the Dewan St Paul, Beaufort on the 14th March 2019. SPSAA is honored to be the 'Guest of Honor" for this auspicious ceremony. SPSAA , represented by the secretary officiated the function and distribution of Graduation Certificates.

SPSAA is organising it's 5th St Paulians' Reunion Nite 2019 to be held on the 29th March 2019 at the Dewan Hakka, Tg Lipat, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

OLD SCHOOL LEAVEN MAGAZINES FOR STATE ARCHIVES

SPSAA have submitted reproduction copies of our historical School Leaven magazines to the SABAH STATE ARCHIVES for public viewing and references for the future generation of St Paulians.

5 copies of the reproduced old Leavens for Year 1970, 1971, 1972 ,1973 & 1974 were handed over to the Archives officer on the 12th Nov 2018. With another copy for the Year 1966 to be submitted later, the full complete set of the magazines is hence in the safe keeping of the State Archives.

The idea of submitting these magazines to the State Archives is to ensure they are properly stored and easy references for the public and St Paulians to check information regarding the school, principals, teachers, schoolmates or the likes.

The first magazine was produced in 1966 and stopped production in 1974. However, the school revived the production again in 2011. During the school's 50th anniversary in 2008, a special edition of the Leaven was specifically produced to mark the auspicious occasion. 

Consequently, SPSAA would like to thank a St Paulian , Mr. Chau Fook Khiong who had earlier submitted the 1967, 1968 & 1969 issues to the Archives on behalf of the school in the early 1970s.

9TH AGM (2018) - SPSAA

The 9th Annual General Meeting of SPSAA was conducted successfully at the Venetian Club, on 27th May 2018, 3 days before the Sabah's Kaamatan Festival. Twenty two members attended the AGM where Lunch was served at 12.30PM before the commence of the meeting. As the 9th AGM was an election year, the new team for the period of 2018/2020 was duly elected during this meeting. Most of the retired EC members except for Mr. Hiew Ha min were re-elected again to serve in the said new period.

Tribute to a former Teacher

Our late teacher, Mr. Thomas Varghese came to work at St Paul's School,Beaufort in 1965. He was 24 years old then. He spent 18 years with St Paul's from 1965-1983. His wife, Mrs Mary Varghese was also a teacher at St Paul's for 8 years from 1965 - 1973. All his five children were born in Beaufort. The couple married in 1964 in India before moving to Beaufort in 1965. He was graduated from the University of Kerala, India. At the age of 46, together with the family, they migrated to Tampa, Florida, USA in the year 1987. He demised at the age of 76. Rest In Peace Sir! We will always remember you!

Reunion Dinner Nite 2017

SPSAA’s 8^th anniversary and the Association’s 4^th St Paulians’ Reunion Dinner Nite 2017 was successfully held on the 24^th March at the Port View Palace Hall, Dewan Hakka, Tg Lipat with our Patron, YAB Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Hj Aman and the Mayor of Kota Kinabalu cum Chairman of St John Alumni Association, Datuk Yeo Boon Hai gracing the function.

This year’s function saw a huge number of new faces and junior classes attending  which are positive for the Alumni. There were many programmes over the dinner nite for St Paulians.

It was also a day of jubilation when St Paulians celebrated our Patron’s and Chairman’s birthday simultaneously during the function.
